Cllr Elizabeth Babbage
Vice-Chairman of the Council
Biography
Elizabeth Babbage is a current Labour councillor, elected in 2019 and serving until 2029. As a former social worker, her primary political focus is on adult social care and community services. Her professional background gives her an intimate understanding of the needs of Ambridge's most vulnerable residents. Babbage is a tireless advocate for maintaining and improving social care services, a crucial but underfunded area of local government. She often speaks passionately about the need to protect the elderly and disabled from the effects of budget cuts. Her work is especially important in the context of the unitary authority merger, as she is concerned that a larger, more impersonal authority could lead to a decline in the quality of care provided. She holds her councillor surgeries at the Ambridge Community Centre on the third Thursday of every month.
