This is a statutory “Yes/No” referendum held to determine whether the local planning authority should use the community-developed Neighbourhood Plan to help decide planning applications in the parish.
A Neighbourhood Plan gives the community a direct legal say in where new homes and businesses should be built and what they should look like. For the plan to be “made” (formally adopted), it must receive more than 50% of the votes cast in the referendum.
This vote is the culmination of years of public consultation, evidence gathering, and independent examination.
If passed, the plan becomes part of the statutory development plan for the area, providing a powerful shield against inappropriate development and ensuring that future growth aligns with the village’s heritage and infrastructure capacity.
