Notice is hereby given that the council, acting under delegated powers from the Highway Authority, will temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic along the main High Street corridor.
This mandatory closure is necessary to facilitate the safe and efficient execution of the Phase 2 public realm paving upgrades. The restriction will be actively enforced from 8:00 AM on July 6, 2026, until 6:00 PM on July 10, 2026.
A clearly signposted diversion route utilizing London Road and Slough Road will be established for the entire duration of the engineering works. Pedestrian access to all adjacent residential properties and independent retail businesses will be strictly maintained throughout the closure period.
Emergency service vehicles will be granted priority access through the cordoned zone at all times should an incident arise. Local transport operators have been notified to adjust their scheduled bus routes and temporary stops accordingly.
