The portfolio holder for Community Engagement officially authorized a discretionary grant allocation of £2,500 to fund the immediate establishment of temporary Winter Warmth Hubs across the parish for late 2024.

This targeted executive decision was fast-tracked outside the standard quarterly grants cycle to ensure local community halls could purchase energy-efficient heating equipment before the onset of severe winter weather.

The distributed funds assisted local volunteer groups in providing safe, heated indoor spaces and hot refreshments for vulnerable and elderly residents struggling with rising utility costs.

Funding for this initiative was drawn directly from the portfolio’s unallocated emergency community outreach budget for that financial year. Partner organizations were required to keep accurate financial ledgers and submit a project completion summary within sixty days of the winter program’s conclusion.

This notice serves to fulfill the council’s strict transparency obligations regarding single-member spending decisions.
