Fostering & Adoption Sub-Committee

The Fostering & Adoption Sub-Committee is a specialist body nested within the Education Advisory Board, dedicated exclusively to the welfare, educational needs, and overall wellbeing of children in the care of Ambridge District Council who are subject to fostering or adoption arrangements. It represents one of the most intimate and consequential areas of the council’s work — one where the decisions made, and the diligence with which those decisions are scrutinised, can fundamentally alter the trajectory of a child’s life.

Chaired by Susan Ferguson, the sub-committee operates under committee code SUB-CHI-004 within the current 2025 municipal year, with a quorum of four members required for valid proceedings. As a level one nested body within the Education Advisory Board hierarchy, it feeds its findings and recommendations upward to the parent committee, ensuring that the specific needs and circumstances of children in fostering and adoption placements are given dedicated and focused attention within the broader educational governance framework of the council.
