Bridge Farm Cooperative

Bridge Farm Cooperative is a community-led agricultural trust focused on the development and promotion of sustainable, organic farming practices within the Ambridge area and across the broader Borsetshire farming community. The Cooperative functions as both a standards board and a development body, working with local farmers, land managers, and agricultural suppliers to advance environmentally responsible land use.
The organisation’s key workstreams include setting and monitoring voluntary organic production standards for member farms, facilitating shared procurement and marketing arrangements, running farmer education and knowledge-exchange programmes, and engaging with local authority planning and environmental policy to advocate for sustainable land management outcomes.
Bridge Farm Cooperative holds a strong community identity rooted in the history of organic farming in the Ambridge area, and it serves as a model of cooperative economic development. Its monthly meeting schedule reflects the operational intensity of its work across the farming calendar.
Ambridge District Council maintains a full representative on the Cooperative, recognising the body’s direct relevance to the Council’s environmental sustainability agenda, rural economy objectives, and local food security commitments. The council representative participates actively in governance discussions, voting on standards, budgets, and strategic direction. The body operates on a not-for-profit basis with all surpluses reinvested into cooperative development and environmental improvement programmes.
